「Despite the fact all of their batter is gluten and dairy free, the quality of it is outstanding. This is possibly the crispiest battered sausage I have ever had. And I was in and out of the place in no time, although it is Sunday so perhaps a bit quieter than usual. I didn't try their mushy peas though, and they have strong competition in that regard nearby in Quorn, so we'll see next time. Oh yeah, decent chips too. Not all stuck together and soggy... Low bar but a challenge for many.」

「Superb! We ate in the restaurant - it was our first time trying Rothley Fisheries and we were not disappointed. Really fresh, great tasting menu. We had Haddock and Lemon sole and they were both beautiful! The waiter, Michael, was extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming - we were even offered a top up of chips! A brilliant fish and chip shop and we will certainly be back, 100% recommend. Thank you! :)」

「The cheapest option? Certainly not. The best option in the area? Almost certainly! Rothley Fisheries is easily one of the best 'chippies' in the area, although to call it that is probably to do it a disservice. There is an excellent range of chip shop staples on the menu, which are freshly cooked or to order - with little if anything that's been hanging around which was cooked hours ago. There's also a splendid range of Greek gyros and similar dishes - which I would highly recommend even if they take a few minutes to assemble. The bread is a particular delight, and a special recommendation for the chicken gyros - which comes with a good portion of chips so don't order extra if you don't want it! Chip portions come in three sizes small, regular and large - even a regular is a GENEROUS portion, so choose your size wisely. Oh, and there's a handy small car park just across the road so it's easy enough to pop over and make your order - although I think they take online and telephone orders too. The staff are friendly and highly efficient, which is a real change from some other places in the area!」

「Best chip shop ever! Be prepared to wait as they fry in small batches which means you always, always get fresh out the fryer chips! Perfect every time. It is so worth the wait. 「Walked in after a 35 min drive based on a recommendation. Fish was fried to perfection. Not under. Not over. Perfection. Batter was bubbly and light yet creamy enough to cover the fish inside with a sweet hinting taste that true batter should carry. The chips. Solid golden crisp on outside. Fluffy inside with no oil run off or burns. The oil and temperature clearly maintained I cannot fault them. Not many places even my own local favourites in birmingham have the traditional taste look and freshness on point like this. It isnt modern fish and chips. The best bit of fish (HUGE), unlimited chips (double fried), bread & butter, Mushy peas and sauce or gravy and a pot of tea was £13.00. I have never had such a well cooked bit of fish, very thin crispy batter with the fish flaking off after cutting.」

「In nipped in here a fee weeks ago (in the area and in a rush) and was blown away by the flavour and texture of the chips! I've since been weekly and they have been very consistently good. There is a great range of chippy food on offer and the flavours are fantastic. Good value for money and the staff are very friendly (especially when not involved in the rush hours on a Friday night!) Love this chippy, long may their standards remain so high. Quick tip - order the curry sauce, best tasting curry sauce around!!」

「Quote possibly the nicest fish and chips I've ever eaten. Having driven all the way from Coventry on a pregnancy craving after watching TikTok! The staff were absolutely fantastic and even helped bring it outside for me. The kebab meat is called gyro here and you have the option of chicken or pork, both are authentic in flavour and actually taste like chicken or pork nothing like the poor quality in your standard chip shop. The portion sizes are generous too! The staff are friendly and service is quick. The attached restaurant is good if you fancy eating in.」

「Visited Rothley Fisheries for the first time yesterday evening (15th Jan) and ate in coming from Derby. I have very severe coeliac disease, and this place truly lives up to its promise of serving genuine gluten‑free food. I’ve been to plenty of places that claim to be gluten free, only to end up with stomach pains within hours — but not at Rothley Fisheries. The portions were generous, the fish and chips were tasty and high quality, and the staff and service were on another level. I highly recommend this place, especially for anyone with coeliac disease. I’ll definitely be a regular from now on. Looking forward to trying the gyros next, if it’s gluten free. 2nd Visit on 17th Jan, evening, takeaway this time, and the food and customer service was outstanding.」

「Rothley Fisheries came up on a search for gluten free fish and chips, and I couldn't be happier. Since being diagnosed with ceoliac disease I have only had 1 fish and chip take away that ended in a bad reaction, so I was delighted when I called and was told that all of their batter is gluten free and all gluten containing foods are cooked separately and stored separately so that they aim to keep a gluten free kitchen! I ordered our food on the website, so many gluten free options to choose from (onion rings, battered sausage, halloumi fries..) and everything was labelled for gluten free! Our food was ready for collection in 15 minutes, I drove over from Loughborough and they packed it all fresh there and then, drove it home to Loughborough.. food was still hot, batter was lovely and crispy and everything tasted amazing 😍 and the best part.. Its the first take away I've had since diagnosis that hasn't made me sick! So so happy and I won't be having fish and chips anywhere else, also looking forward to popping in for a table on my lunch break at work! Also the onion rings were as big as your face and had a lovely crunch and my partner loved his gluten-full burger too!」

「Unbelievable Chip Shop, I can't stress this enough, this Fish and Chip shop serve Gluten Free Fish and Chips PERMANENTLY, so my partner is able to still enjoy Battered Sasauge and Chips, even onion rings all completely Gluten Free!! Oh, and Dairy Free to, which is also so so helpful when takeaway choices are so very limited for people with Gluten allergies and Dairy Intolerances etc! Even their curry sauces - mild and spicy, and gravy are also gluten and dairy free!! The staff inside are fantastic, very friendly and couldn't help you enough. One day I visited, I took interest at something else battered in the hot holds so I asked about them and a man who may have been the manager after telling me about them put some in my bag for free for me to try. If I could give 6 stars I would, what a business!」

It has a great reputation for its fish and chips, which is not wholly undeserved. Most of my family rate Rothley Fisheries above all others - though I personally find the batter chewy and the fish a little overcooked. Chips are lovely. Portions are gigantic... and the service is always wonderful; you rarely wait, and the staff are cheery. A tad pricey.」

「The place recently got some new owners and they''ve already made an impact. The quality at this fish and chippy is (and always has been) excellent. They serve really tasty chips and I like the new fish in gluten free batter (makes the meal not too heavy unlike before). They have a good selection on the menu like Salmon, Haddock, Plaice, as well as Sausages, Fishcakes, Pies, Pasties and Burgers. All meals can come with a choice of mushy peas, curry sauce, beans or gravy. In the restaurant you get complimentary tea and bread and in the evenings free chip refills! Staff are really friendly and do a good job. V.busy on Fridays so beware, but otherwise is top place and the dining experience is lovely.」

「Been going to Rothley Fisheries for years, always worth the 15 minute journey as they are probably the best in Leicestershire. Portion sizes are huge, the food tastes phenomenal and the staff are so friendly and accommodating to all your needs. Nearly the entire menu is gluten free and there are vegetarian options too. It is under new ownership since 2022 but the exceptionally high standards have definitely been maintained.」

「As a family we have dined in several times over the last 18 months. We tend to visit late afternoon. On arrival we always receive a genuine, warm friendly welcome by the waitresses. Fast service, meals always arrive freshly cooked and taste delicious. We have tried fish, pies, gyros and various sides and the quality never fails to deliver. They also cater for large groups. However, advisable to book if you are large group. You can take your own booze, they provide you with wine glasses and glasses out the freezer for your beers. The Management occasionally walk through the restaurant and are really friendly. All in all this chippy restaurant is superb and ticks all our boxes. Hence, why we always return. Never tried take away meals so can't comment on that side of the business.」

「Good size portions. When they started doing Greek gyros there was pork and chicken which was amazing. They then changed the pork to lamb which was essentially Doner meat, a very very tasty doner meat I might add. Had a bit of spice and was different vs regular kebab shop kebab meat. I ordered tonight, however, and the doner meat was pretty much the same as kebab shop meat, although it was nice, I was a little disappointed that they have possibly changed from the other lamb doner. Staff are always friendly and helpful if I phone up. Deliveries are quick and again the drivers are friendly. A suggestion would be to offer a mixed meat (chicken and lamb) with halloumi option, you do it with the gyros meals but for some reason only have lamb and halloumi in the meats menu. I would have put 5 stars if it wasn’t for the above.」

「Brilliant place to eat. Excellent value. Meals include lots of bread and butter and a cuppa. It is not all fish so their are meat and veggie options. Place has a nice feel with a fishing theme, air conditioning, modern toilets, friendly staff and a good selection of beer and wine. Water is available free from coolers. We found the Trivial Pursuit table cards fun to entertain ourselves checking our general knowledge waiting for our meals. Recommend booking. We always do and sometimes have struggled to get the time I wanted. If you can go early do so as it is quieter. Staff friendly and helpful. They offer you extra bread and chips free of charge if you can manage it...Great place! My mum in law loves going there for a treat. The older generation in the family will love it but grest for all. Last time we went we saw a selection of diners; a ladies group, couples, friends and a mum with kids still in their school uniform all out for an early tea. Last time we left customers were queuing about 20 deep in their take away chip shop next door (which is where food is cooked for the restaurant) a sure sign of a good chippy!」
